Time to Praise Time: The Limited Edition Watches Dedicated to Exceptional People
Dear watch nerds and history lovers, have you ever wondered what happens when watchmakers get creative and decide to pay homage to some of the world's most amazing figures? Well, fasten your seatbelts-or rather, buckle up your watch-as we are about to embark on a joyride through the realm of limited edition watches which pay respect to some of the most legendary figures.

These are not your run-of-the-mill watches. Hell, no! These are nearly time-traveling devices on the wrist, with no risk whatsoever of hitting that big, red, shiny button that could accidentally delete you from the annals of history. PHEW! Let's take a look at some of the hippest watches that do way more than tell time-tell stories!

The IWC Big Pilot's Watch: A Flying High Tribute to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

First, we have a watch that would surely please the author of "The Little Prince." IWC made the special watch as part of their tribute to Antoine de Saint Exupéry - the flying French writer.

Deep-blue watch face against the wrist; almost a blockbuster angular sky, right on the arm.

The strap? Brown leather, much like the jackets pilots sport in movies. Pretty cool, huh?

But here's where things get even neater: flip the watch over, and on the back is engraved a picture of Saint Exupéry's plane. It's like wearing a tiny little piece of aviation history!

They made only 1,700 pieces of those watches, so they are pretty rare. And here is the kicker: you buy one of these watches, well, you're donating to a charity that aids kids in some handy manner. You are not only wearing a cool watch but also helping to make the world a better place. How cool is that?

The Omega Speedmaster: The Moon and Back Watch

Buckle up those astronaut helmets, folks, because this next watch is literally out of this world! Omega Speedmaster "Apollo 11" pays homage to one of the biggest moments in human history: the first time we walked on the moon! This Omega watch boasts a specialty gold that it refers to as "Moonshine gold." No, it isn't made from moonbeams-aren't you disappointed?-but it does have a unique pale color for the gold that will make you think of moonlight.

Flip it over, and there is a picture of an astronaut stepping onto the moon featuring Neil Armstrong's famous words. It's like having a little museum on your wrist!

They did 6,969 of them, get it? Because 1969 was the year we landed on the moon! Wearing one of those is like carrying one piece of space history along with you wherever you go. Of course, this may just encourage you to reach for the stars!

Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso: Wearing Van Gogh's Art on Your Wrist

Here it is for the art lovers: just imagine having a part of one of Van Gogh's famous paintings on your watch. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso can do that.

But this watch has a cool trick up its sleeve: flip it over, and bingo! You're looking at Van Gogh's self-portrait. It is so intricate you'd think Van Gogh painted it himself. Well, spoiler alert-he didn't. But the artists who did spent more than 100 hours perfecting it!

They only made five of these watches, mind you. Yes, you read correctly-only five! So if you ever happen to see someone wearing one, you will know immediately that you have encountered a serious fan of art and watches.

Adventure at the Wrist: Vacheron Constantin's Explorer Watches

Ever wanted to be an explorer? Well, with these Vacheron Constantin watches, every time you check your time, you will feel like one!

These watches have maps on them from the time when courageous sailors were discovering new parts of the world. It is as if one is adorning an ancient treasure map on the wrist. How cool is that? The 2021 set of these watches celebrates three Portuguese explorers who sailed to Africa, India, and even discovered Brazil. They made only 10 watches for each explorer, so they're super rare.

Wearing one of these might just make you feel like going on an adventure of your own. Maybe start by exploring a new park in your neighborhood?

The Breguet Classique: A Slice of Tokyo on the Wrist

Our last stop brings us to Japan, for a timepiece that puts into focus the upscale Ginza shopping district in Tokyo. The Breguet Classique "Ginza Anniversary" watch is like wearing a little bit of Tokyo with you wherever you go.

But the coolest part is that the watch face bears a very small, highly detailed picture of the Ginza clock tower. More than two weeks to make each one for the artists. That is longer than most of us spend shopping in an entire year!

Only 10 such watches were produced. That's it! If you ever see one, you know you are looking at really something special.
